Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat dismissed the budget as an example of how “empty vessels make the most noise”.
“Crushing the marginalised sector under huge financial burden, imposing projects without listening to people's sentiments and pushing Goa into financial bankruptcy, BJP government in Goa headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is dreaming of building tall towers,” Kamat said.
Commenting on the government’s promise to create 11,000 government jobs, Kamat pointed out that there is no data available with the government about the vacancies in various departments. In reference to the proposal of providing 37,000 jobs through the Investment Promotion Board, the Leader of Opposition demanded to know the basis of this claim when there is no information available with the government on how many Goans have already been recruited in the projects cleared by IPB.
“There is nothing on the Economic Revival Plan and helping the marginalised sector,” he stated.
Goa Congress President Girish Chodankar took to Twitter to label the budget as a “Ghajini-style” document. “CM Sawant presented budget 2021-22 in Ghajini-style, not remembering what was announced by his government in previous budgets and went on to repeat the same unfulfilled promises as new. Also encroached into central government projects. Crores worth of jumlas galore once again taking forward fakeism,” he wrote.
