The State government has established a new police station - Mardol - in the Ponda taluka, further defining the jurisdiction of the Goa police.
Under this new arrangement, a total of 17 villages, namely Adcolna, Betki, Boma, Candola, Cuncoliem, Orgao, Kerim, Verem, Tiurem, Velinga, Volvoi, Vagurbem, Marcela, Priol, Mardol, Marcaim (including Marcaim IDC), and Kundaim (including Kundaim IDC), will fall within the jurisdiction of the newly created Mardol Police Station.
The Home Department issued a notification on Monday, and preparations are already underway to determine the appropriate staffing levels for this PS, which will be headed by a designated station in-charge.
This decision comes more than a year after the establishment of the Mopa police station, which was set up given the second international airport, Manohar International Airport, Mopa.
