Colvale Police have nabbed another accused in the kidnapping case taking the total of arrested persons in the case to three.
Police have added stringent sections of the POCSO Act against the accused after the victim girls revealed that they were sexually abused.
According to Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi, the statements of both the minor girls were recorded and based on their disclosures a third accused Vikas Mukhiya (19) a resident of Bicholim but a native of Bihar was arrested.
He is presently lodged in police custody.
“Since the girls disclosed that they were sexually abused, we have slapped the sections of the POCSO Act against the accused,” Dalvi informed.
It may be recalled, Colvale Police last week had rescued two minor girls who were allegedly kidnapped from Goa.
Two accused persons were earlier arrested for allegedly kidnapping the minors and holding them hostage in a house in Hubbali in Karnataka.
Police had registered an FIR based on the complaint of the father of a minor girl stating that some unknown persons had kidnapped his 12-year-old daughter. Police registered another case when a woman also lodged a complaint alleging that her 15-year-old daughter had been kidnapped.
The two complaints were registered under section 363 (kidnapping) of IPC and section 8 of The Goa Children’s Act.
A team of police under Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi after a detailed investigation finally traced the minor girls at Hubbali and rescued them last Monday.
