Saligao Police are investigating two distinct cases of rape where unidentified individuals are alleged to have impregnated underaged victims.
In the first case, a doctor, alarmed by the situation, promptly alerted the police when the victim's parents brought her to the hospital for an abortion. Sources revealed that the parents reportedly wanted to stay away from any negative repercussions, and thus preferred to keep the matter discreet.
Although the identity of the accused remains unknown, another incident has been reported to the police. In this particular case, the parents of a girl complained alleging that their daughter had been raped five months ago, resulting in her pregnancy.
One of these victims is believed to have been raped by two youth.
The police have opted to withhold further details, pending additional investigations and recording of statements of the victims and witnesses. The FIRs are registered under various sections of IPC, GCA and POCSO Act.
