The Goa Legislative Assembly passed an amendment to the Goa Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Act 2013 on Friday, extending the deadline to fill up group C posts by July 31, 2024.
Initially, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant introduced the amendment to extend the deadline until April 30. However, BJP MLA Ganesh Gaonkar proposed a further amendment to extend the deadline until July 31.
Accordingly, the House passed the Bill with the revised amendment.
These posts were advertised before January 8, 2022, just before the general elections.
This marks the fourth amendment to the Act. The previous deadline lapsed on January 31.
Previously, in October, the government had instructed the Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSSC) to complete the requirements for group C posts by October 31, 2023.
Initially, the government had set a deadline of August 31, 2023, to complete the recruitment process.
