Govt finalises report on ODP illegalities, to be made public

PANAJI

Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday said the review committee headed by Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik has readied a 240-page report on the various irregularities in the ODPs of Calangute-Candolim and Arpora-Nagoa-Parra planning areas.

Rane said, the irregularities involve the ODPs showing as development zones areas with slopes, marshy lands, khazan lands and such other areas which are "No Development Zones" under existing TCP and building and development laws.

The TCP Minister said the report will be discussed in detail at a TCP board meeting before finalising it and making it public.

As soon as he took over the TCP department, Rane had suspended the already notified ODPs and set up a panel under the CTP to review and recommend changes in these.

Besides the CTP, the committee consisted of the Senior Town Planners of the two districts, North and South Goa and the member-secretaries of the North Goa Planning and Development Authority and the South Goa Planning and Development Authority.

Representatives of stakeholder professional bodies including CREDAI, Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Institution of Engineers (India), and Institute of Town Planners, were also co-opted on the panel.
