At a function organised in the Institute Braganza hall in Panaji, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant appealed to Goans to actively participate in ‘Clean Goa, Green Goa’ mission to rid the State of Garbage problem.
He urged local bodies like the municipalities and panchayats to take the lead in the initiative.He announced that every panchayat and municipality stands a chance to win cash prizes of Rs 15 lakh, Rs 12 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, in their respective categories for best waste management.
The CM urged NGOs to also contribute in helping the State with dealing with its garbage problem. He claimed that the besides Saligao waste treatment plant, government plans to build three more such plants to help deal with the issue.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people of Goa statehood day. “On Goa’s Statehood Day, my greetings to the people of Goa. Goa epitomises harmony, brotherhood and progressive values. The state has made a rich contribution to India’s progress. May Goa continue developing in the times to come,” PM has tweeted.
President Ramanath Kovind in his greeting on tweeter has said, “Greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa on statehood day. May this beautiful state go from strength to strength in the years to come.”
