Deputy Speaker and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said the BJP-led coalition government was strong and stable despite a sustained campaign by the Congress to destabilise it by creating an impression that governance in Goa has come to a standstill.
“Misleading messages are spread through social media. There is a sustained campaign carried out to create an impression that government has stopped and it is not working and thereby destabilise it,” said Lobo, while addressing a news conference at his Calangute office on Wednesday.
Urging Goans not to fall prey to the opposition campaign, Lobo said there was no threat to the BJP-led coalition government in the state. “Our government is strong and stable. There is no way this government will collapse. People of Goa should reject such misleading campaigns,” he said.
He said off late a lot of messages were spread on social media, particularly on WhatsApp that Congress MLAs were going to join BJP and vice versa.
“Don’t give credence to such messages. Nobody is going anywhere. These are attempts by some people to create panic in the government and governance,” he said.
Lobo said that instead of focusing a discussion on crucial issues like mining ban and unemployment in the State, there was systematic campaign to divert attention on paralysis in governance.
“Let us talk about potholes. We must ask the PWD minister to fill up the pot holes and make the roads motorable. We must speak about rise in unemployment. There is need to increase farming activity in the State. We need to work for the people of Goa,” Lobo said.
