Asserting that it is a sad commentary that the government is not functioning, former Chief Minister and Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro has said the government should probe whether officers are sabotaging the road works sanctioned by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar amounting to Rs 50-odd crore in each of the Assembly constituencies.
“The situation is akin to civil disobedience movement. On one hand, the Chief Minister has announced Rs 25 crore development works, besides Rs 8 crore works. The PWD Minister later announced road works amounting to Rs 20 crore. If you add up, you will get a figure of Rs 50-odd crore,” he told the media after reviewing various works in progress in Davorlim village falling under his Navelim constituency.
Faleiro, however, pointed out that neither are the estimates prepared by the PWD officers nor have any of the road works underway in the constituencies. “The CLP had taken a strong resolution demanding to know whether there’s a civil disobedience in Goa,” he said, while demanding a probe whether the officers are sabotaging the works announced by the Chief Minister and the PWD minister.
Saying that MLAs are responsible to the people in their respective constituencies, Faleiro reiterated that is sad commentary that the government has not been functioning in the State.
Faleiro also cautioned the PWD to restore the roads damaged by digging, either to lay the sewerage chambers or for cable laying. “I know that it is not possible to hotmix the damaged roads, but at least the PWD should prepare the estimates so that work can start after monsoons,” he said.
The Navelim MLA, however, pointed out that he has no complaints against departments such as the PWD, water supply, Health and WRD, adding that he now expects the Agriculture officials to implement community farming in Davorlim village which will benefit thousands of farmers.
He pointed out that the Navelim health centre will soon get a hospital attached to it, adding that he had got specialists to visit the health centre pending setting up the hospital in Navelim.
