The government is planning to set up a grid connected to floating solar power plants at Selaulim, Amthane, Anjunem and Chapoli dams in the State.
The government has invited a request for proposal from experience firms for setting up the facility on build, finance and operate basis for 25 years.
The Department of New and Renewable Energy (DNRE) will act as the nodal agency for coordinating between the Water Resources Department, Electricity Department and the selected solar power company that will set up the project.
As per information received from the technical persons of DNRE, besides generating solar power these plants are expected to help in the conservation of water due to less evaporation.
This will be first of its kind facility in the state where high solar power generation is expected due to the maintained temperature of solar panels.
DNRE will assist in signing of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between the solar power developer and State Electricity Department. The Power Sale agreement (PSA) will be subject to tariff approved by the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC).
