Govt notifies LPG cylinder scheme

PANAJI

The State government on Tuesday notified the 'Chief Minister's Financial Assistance for Refilling of LPG Cylinder Scheme, 2023' wherein Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries will be paid monthly assistance of Rs 275.

The scheme, as per Civil Supplies Director Gopal Parsekar, will ensure the beneficiary head of the family gets the amount directly into his/her bank account.

With this notification, the government has advised the AAY beneficiaries to verify the correctness of their bank account and mobile number through their respective taluka offices on or before August 7.

"The scheme aims to redress the issues arising out of escalating cost of LPG due to the rise in international crude oil prices and other factors," an official said adding that the AAY beneficiaries of lower income group families will be paid this compensation towards refilling of three LPG cylinders per year.

Three free LPG cylinders per family was the BJP's poll promise in Goa, but Chief Minister Pramod Sawant later claimed that the scheme will be only for the low-income group.
