PANAJI: Two government officers in Goa face investigation after Pooja Naik, reportedly involved in a scam, admitted to securing two government jobs with their assistance. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, speaking at the inaugural of Vigilance Awareness Week, revealed that notices will be issued to the officers linked to Naik.
The Chief Minister stressed the government’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, vowing that “whoever is involved in corruption will not be spared, no matter who they are.”
CM Sawant highlighted the issue of corruption, stating that it often begins at the lower level, obstructing good governance and causing difficulties for the public. "In the last 8 to 10 days, we have seen people blaming politicians; however, these scamsters, who falsely claim to be government officials, have no link to the government. They mislead common people," said Sawant.
As Diwali approaches, Sawant called for citizens to fight corruption alongside the symbolic ‘Narkasur Dahan,’ a ritual to burn away evil. “Let us commit to eliminating corruption with the same spirit as we celebrate Diwali,” he said.
With the surge in digital services, Sawant also warned of the growing risk of fraud and called for vigilance in identity verification by government employees. “The same technology that aids us can also be exploited by fraudsters. Government staff must verify caller identities to ensure authenticity and prevent misuse,” he stated.
