In its attempt to vaccinate a larger number of people considering the rising number of Covid cases across the border, the Directorate of Health Services is set to host mega camps for citizens above 60 years and people between 45 and 59 years with co-morbidities on March 15 and 16.
The camps will be held across 37 health centres in the State and will continue further depending upon the need.
All eligible beneficiaries have been asked to avail this opportunity and to contact the nearest government health centre to get themselves vaccinated, the Department of Information and Publicity informed.
The number of active cases under various government health centres across the State is steadily rising with Urban Health Centre (UHC) Panaji continuing to monitor the highest number of active Covid cases with 110 active cases within its jurisdiction at present. UHC Margao too has 108 active cases under it.
UHC Mapusa has 51 active cases within its jurisdiction while Primary Health Centre (PHC) Cansaulim has 46. UHC Vasco and PHC Ponda have 45 active Covid cases each under them and PHC Porvorim follows closely with 42 active cases.
Though the number of active cases under PHC Chimbel has reduced considerably over the last week, it continues to monitor 39 active cases of the infection.
Similarly, the numbers have remained steady under PHC Cortalim (38), PHC Corlim (24), PHC Candolim (22) and PHC Chinchinim (20).
Meanwhile, one more Covid related death was recorded in the mortality bulletin of the Health Department on Sunday raising Goa’s Covid victim count to 806.
The deceased was a 73 year-old man from Quepem who passed away at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
The DHS also detected 66 new cases of the infection from among the 1,310 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate of the state has now spiked to five per cent.
