Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral on Thursday said the State government plans to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles in the next 15 years and come out with new cleaner fuels.
Cabral was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the State's first online CNG station at M/s Kavlekar's fuel station, a retail outlet of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) at Sancoale.
M/s Kavlekar's Fuel Station is now the only outlet in the west zone to have CNG, petrol, diesel fuels and an electric charging station.

“HPCL always takes initiatives to give cleaner and greener fuels to consumers and in the next 15 years, the State government also intends to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles and come out with new cleaner fuels.”
HPCL Vasco Region DGM Falguni Halder said HPCL is committed to "Good Fuel Promise" with environmental friendly green initiatives and excellence in the area of customer service at its retail outlet network.
He informed that supply to CNG station is done via tap-up point provided at Zuari on the Dabhol-Bengaluru Natural Gas Pipeline set up by GAIL.
"This CNG station is equipped with 1200 SCMH online compressor with a backup of 3000 WL stationary cascade and two dispensing units capable of catering all kinds of CNG vehicles.”
“The Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has authorised Indian Oil-Adani Gas Pvt. Ltd (IOAGPL), a 50:50 joint venture between IOCL and Adani Total Gas Ltd, to implement the CGD projects in South Goa," said Haider.
Adani Gas COO Bhashit Dholakia said IOAGPL will set up a pipeline network of about 55 km of steel network, more than 500 km of MDPE network along with associated facilities to provide PNG to industrial, commercial and domestic units.
"IOAGPL shall set up 14 CNG stations to cater to the transportation sector by investing over Rs 300 crore for CGD projects in South Goa," said Dholakia.
Retail outlet dealer Siddesh Kavlekar and others were present at the function.
