In a bid to boost maritime resources and facilities in the State, the State government has plans to set up the Goa Maritime Board and a world-class maritime school, adding that the central government has accorded approval for the ‘Konkan Maritime Cluster’, the first maritime cluster in the country.
While presenting his budget, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the world is exploring avenues to encash the blue economy.
“Goa has a good river network as well as sea connectivity. Hence to harness the potential of this sector, I propose to establish the Goa Maritime Board and I have made a budgetary provision of Rs 1 crore rupees,” said Sawant.
The chief minister also stated that the central government has accorded approval for an amount of Rs 16.20 crore for the ‘Konkan Maritime Cluster’, the first maritime cluster in the country.
Sawant also stated a world-class maritime school is being planned in the State.
