Govt seeks fortnightly reviews of public health facilities

PANAJI

Functioning of public health facilities will be reviewed fortnightly and health officers in-charge of the primary health centres will have to henceforth report to the Directorate of Health Services regularly on the requirements at their centres.

These decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane where officials of his ministry as well as top doctors from the DHS were

present.

Calling the meeting crucial, Rane said, several key decisions were made to strengthen Goa’s healthcare system.

“It was decided that review meetings will be conducted every 15 days to ensure consistent monitoring and timely action,” Rane said.

Health Centres across the State will now be required to present their specific requirements enabling the department to address these needs, Rane said.

He added that the primary health centres will be reassessed to identify areas for improvement and additionally, unannounced surprise inspections will be carried out at the sub-district hospitals to ensure highest standards of health care.

Meanwhile, in a new initiative, it was decided to hold ‘health camps’ at all health centres in collaboration with the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) to take essential health services to nooks and corners of the State.
