Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Luizinho Failero stated that the government should have taken cognizance of Sadhvi’s statement and booked her for attempting to disrupt communal harmony and peace.
However, Faleiro admitted that the Congress relied on the wisdom of the government and refrained from filing a complaint against the Sadhvi after her statement at the All India Hindu Convention at Ramnathi last week.
Meanwhile, Congress also announced that it will undertake a 15 day-long mass signature campaign to combat the rising tide of intolerance. Congress volunteers will visit houses in 40 blocks to seek at least one lakh signature to a memorandum addressed to the President of India.
“We have formulated a memorandum addressed to the President of India listing all the evils perpetrated over the last three years to undo the work done over 70 years to strengthen the secular fabric of the country.”
“We have called upon the President to take appropriate action in preserving our secular, democratic polity and culture in consonance with the Indian Constitution,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Faleiro informed.
