Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said the State government would sign an agreement on July 15 with 13 IDC associations to work out an arrangement for skill development of youth studying in ITI to enable them get jobs in the industries.
Speaking in the assembly, Sawant said there will be focus on self-employment and skill development over the next five years.
“Skill development needs to be promoted among Goans youth to prepare them for the hospitality and industrial sectors. We will do it together. We have to see that apprenticeship and permanent jobs will be provided to youth in industries. The ITIs provide 42 courses and all these students will be accommodated in the nearby IDC,” said CM.
“Agreements will be signed with 13 IDC associations,” he added.
The chief minister also said that equipment has been provided to 2,652 divyangas in the State.
“The Sarkar Tumchya Dari is not an election stunt and 4.5 lakh people have been registered. After the monsoon, the ‘Sarkar Tumchya Daari’ programme will be resumed,” said Sawant.
Meanwhile, CM has said Goa has the highest percentage of forest cover in the country, which is more than 67 per cent.
Clarifying on the afforestation being done by Goa in Madhya Pradesh, Sawant said since Goa has no sufficient land for afforestation, it has to do afforestation in Madhya Pradesh.
“Goa is spending Rs 32.7 crore for afforestation in 327 hectares of land in Madhya Pradesh,” said Sawant.
CM said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ to celebrate independence will be celebrated in Goa through the Art and Culture department.
When Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai pointed out that the mariculture policy amended by the government to give facility under the scheme to non-Goans, Sawant assured to make amendments to the scheme.
He also promised to bring changes in the Investment Promotion Board, while adding that auction of mining leases would be conducted in the next 5-6 months.
