Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that the State government is positively considering the suggestion made by BJP MLAs for a total lockdown in Goa.
“A decision in this regard will be taken within two-three days after discussions with stakeholders and Cabinet ministers”, Sawant said.
Earlier in the day, in the virtual meeting held with Sawant, all BJP MLAs had requested the CM to impose lockdown in the State at the earliest in order to arrest the increasing number of Covid cases.
Most of the MLAs who participated in virtual meeting demanded that strict lockdown be imposed in Goa to control the spike in Covid pandemic-linked cases and deaths.
Deputy Chief Minister Babu Kavlekar who was also present at the virtual meeting opined that there is no option other than lockdown to arrest the spiraling cases as the public is not in a mood to follow Covid norms.
He said, Sawant had given enough indications that the government would soon announce a total lockdown in the State.
