A day after assuring the shack owners to resolve issues pertaining to the reallocation and increasing the total number of temporary structures across three major beaches, CM Pramod Sawant on Thursday held a meeting with Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte.
The meeting discussed various components regarding the setting up of the shacks as well as adherence to the environmental norms.
On Wednesday, a delegation of the traditional shack operators met the CM alleging that a tourism official has been creating confusion by changing wards of some shacks on Calangute and Candolim beaches and reducing the number of shacks to three from eight at Ozran beach. To this, the CM assured to revert to the old allocation.
“They (shack owners) met me (on Wednesday) with small issues pertaining to the Environment and Tourism ministry, which will be resolved within 1-2 days,” the CM told reporters, after a cabinet meeting where the matter was deliberated.
A notification on the allocation of shacks is also expected shortly. The tourist season commenced this month even as the allotment has been delayed, yet again, by a month-and-half.
