At a meeting chaired by Sarpanch Tulsidas Desai, members demanded that the panchayat carry out a survey of the landlords, who have let their premises on rent, if they have been found non-cooperating with the panchayat body.
Sarpanch Tulsidas told the gram sabha that the panchayat had some months ago appealed to the landlords to submit details of their tenants putting up in their rented premises. He, however, lamented that the response to the panchayat appeal had few takers, with only a few landlords providing details of their tenants.
After much discussion, the gram sabha resolved that the panchayat should carry out a survey to ascertain the number of tenants putting up in rented premises.
The panchayat also discussed the issue of the proposed construction project approved along the Eastern bypass. Gram sabha member Anand Sawant said the project would result in water logging and other hardships to the villagers. It was finally decided to conduct a joint inspection of the project site along with WRD and Power officials before taking further aciotn.
The issue of mobile towers had also surfaced at the meeting, with the gram sabha resolving that the panchayat should approve only temporary mobile towers if these are meant for the BRICS summit.
The gram sabha also raised the issue of an illegal construction coming up on Comunidade land in the village. Sarpanch Tulsidas assured
the villagers that the panchayat will set in motion the process to demolish illegal structures standing on the Comunidade land.
