The ongoing agitation against RP21, PDAs and ODPs showed signs of intensifying in villages with the controversial Regional Plan 2021 and Planning & Development Authorities (PDAs) coming under strong opposition from gram sabhas across the state on Sunday. The Colva gram sabha even went a step ahead to demand the scrapping of the Regional Plan.

While the Navelim gram sabha opposed the inclusion of the village into the PDA, Benaulim gram sabha resolved to issue a notice to the Chief Town Planner on why the recommendations made by the Village panchayat vis-à-vis RP21 were not incorporated in the Plan. The issue over the regional Plan 2021 also echoed at the Assolna gram sabha with members demanding that the TCP should honour the recommendations made by the panchayat in respect to RP21.

In the North, gram sabha at Morjim witnessed an uproar over mega projects with people criticizing TCP for issuing licenses without providing basic facilities in the village. The TCP department and local panchayat also came under fire at the gram sabha for allegedly felicitating illegal constructions in Assagao. In Santa Cruz, the issue of denotification of areas from GPPDA was raised with villagers questioning why the denotification had not been published despite assurances to the contrary by the TCP minister.
