Goenchea Raponkarancho Ekvott has again demanded immediate action on LED light fishing and Bull trawling which has been banned near coast waters.
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Fisheries Minister Filipe Neri and other govt officials, the Ekvott expressed its concern over the failure of the government to implement ban on Bull Trawling and use of LED lights in territorial waters of the state.
The GRE says the LED lights used are of mostly from 5000 to 25000 watts, which attracts fish and due to the intense heat generated by the lights juvenile fish along with all corals and marine vegetation gets destroyed.
The organisation has warned to to take law in hand if blatant violation is continued.
