The Goa government has shown keen interest in tapping green investment for the tourism industry as the matter is scheduled for discussion with around 500 stakeholders on September 27, being World Tourism Day.
Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) in collaboration with SKAL Goa and Goa Tourism will also be deliberating on key issues and arriving at solutions.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte are likely to attend the meet which will also see top bureaucrats in attendance.
“Green investments in the tourism industry are crucial as we move farther away from the pandemic, as many consumer preferences have shifted to become more eco-friendly,” TTAG president Nilesh Shah said.
UNWTO the global body has identified Tourism and Green Investments as the theme for this year’s World Tourism Day while citing investments as one of the key priorities for tourism’s recovery, future growth and development. It highlights the need for more and better-targeted investments for people, for the planet and prosperity.
“Green investments in tourism support cultural heritage preservation and responsible tourism, safeguarding and showcasing a destination’s distinct cultural treasures, which in turn enriches local communities,” TTAG Vice President (North Goa) Jack Ajit Sukhija, said.
