MARGAO
As Monday saw a serpentine queue of LPG consumers submitting their forms for the three-free-cylinder scheme, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat said that the beneficiaries of Graha Aadhar and DSSS schemes will get first preference since their accounts are already linked with these schemes.
Rubbishing reports that Graha Aadhar and DSSS scheme beneficiaries will not be eligible for the LPG cylinder scheme since they are already availing themselves of the benefits of government schemes, the PWD Minister reminded that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has already clarified that the LPG scheme has nothing to do with the Graha Aadhar and DSSS schemes.
In fact, he said the beneficiaries of Graha Aadhar and DSSS schemes will get first preference in the implementation of the LPG scheme for the simple reason that their accounts are already linked with the government.
“The Graha Aadhar and DSSS beneficiaries should not fear that they will not be eligible for the LPG scheme. The Chief Minister has already clarified on this aspect,” he said, while attacking those out to create confusion in the minds of the people over the LPG scheme. “When this scheme was launched on Saturday, some people came here to create fear in the minds of the people that beneficiaries of DSSS and Graha Aadhar will not get the benefit of the scheme. We will not tolerate any attempt to spread rumours amongst the people. Schemes launched by the government are intended for the benefit of the community,” he said.
He added: “Some people cannot digest the good schemes brought by the government. The people will realise that this scheme is meant for all people irrespective of caste and creed only when they receive the amount in their accounts.”
Meanwhile, huge queues of consumers were seen outside the office of the PWD as well as the Margao Municipal building to submit their application forms for the free LPG cylinder scheme.
