Aims to bring associations of 5 Konkani scripts on one platform

Celebrating the Goa Statehood Day, Global Romi Lipi Abhiyan ( GRLA ) has announced that it is organising the 1st All India Konkani and Cultural Mega-convention on May 30 from 9 am to 6 pm at Ratzinger hall, Near Fr Agnel Ashram Verna.
GRLA Convenor Kennedy Afonso said the theme of the mega convention will be : Konknni Avoiche Vengent Ravum-ya. (Lets live in the embrace of Mother Konkani).
Addressing the media, he said this historic 1st All India Konkani Literary and Cultural Mega convention aims to bring together Associations of all 5 Konkani scripts on a single platform , amplifying the need for unity among all Konkani scripts users , so that Konkani language will bloom and flourish.
The committees members have been chosen from various Konknni Associations to give representation to all Associations across the Konkan belt.
“ So far, six Konkani Associations from Karnataka, five from Mumbai, two from Sindhudurg, two Global Associations and various other associations from Goa, are supporting the Mega-convention. The resolutions passed in this Mega-convention will represent the collective voice of all five scripts of Konkani, through engaging dialogues and group discussions, that will explore all possibilities to protect and develop all 5 Scripts of Konkani language , and to maintain the unique diversity of Konkani language”, he added.
He said the theme of the convention will be explored encompassing the following: 1. Unity in Diversity ( 3 Group discussions) 2. Competitions and presentations of the rich cultural heritage of Konkani language through dance, song and music by youth groups from Goa and Mangalore. 3. To adopt the flag designed by late Eric Ozario as the official flag of Konkani language . 4. Launching of the Konkani Anthem. 5. Felicitation of the meritorious and conferring of Konknni Rotn, Konknni Bhushan and Konknni Vibushan Awards.
