Group of people go on rampage at Hospicio

Hospital PRO and resident in heated argument

Group of people go on rampage at Hospicio

MARGAO

Hospicio witnessed an uproar on Wednesday evening wherein a group of persons went on a rampage and damaged property following an incident between the

Hospital public relations officer and a resident.

Fatorda police have registered two FIRs. The first one is against Amin John under section 353 of the IPC for allegedly obstructing PRO Sarfaraj Sheikh from discharging his duties and for damaging public property.

The second FIR was registered against Sarfaraj following a complaint lodged by Amin John that he was allegedly assaulted by Sarfaraj when he had come to the PRO for help concerning a patient.

Amin John told the media that he was sent by a Hospicio Visiting Committee member to the PRO with a plea to speak on the phone since one of his family members was admitted in the hospital.

He, however, lamented that the PRO was not ready to take the phone.

On the other hand, Sarfaraj contended that Amin had come to him and demanded that he take the phone, which he had refused since he is not supposed to take any phone from anyone. “When I refused to take the phone, he allegedly abused and assaulted me before security people came to my rescue,” Sarfaraj said.

He pointed out that after some time, a group of people stormed the registration department and also threw down the laptops and damaged the benches, after which he called the police.

Fatorda PI Navlesh Desai said the police have registered FIRs against both the parties after receiving complaints and counter complaints from the two sides.
