The Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) hosted a vendor meet in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the GSL ‘Shipyard Sadan’ in Chicalim, to focus on opportunities available at GSL for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen links within Goa.
The event aimed to provide valuable insights into the shipbuilding sector, highlighting potential areas and opportunities at GSL where local MSMEs can contribute and benefit. The challenges and support mechanisms available for smaller enterprises looking to enter or expand in this vital industry were also addressed.
GSL CMD B K Upadhyay addressed the gathering and indicated that presently GSL is undertaking the construction of 23 diverse projects and is having a healthy order book of close to Rs 18,000 crore. He further added that this order book position is expected to generate considerable outsourcing of works/services in the next three years. He appealed to local firms/service providers to actively participate in these outsourced works/services and be a part of the GSL growth.
