In a no-holds-barred address, Goa Suraksha Manch President Anand Shirodkar said former chief minister Manohar Parrikar was a leader who was an expert in "political settings" and termed him as one from the political “mafia.”
“At election time Parrikar did setting with various politicians like Babush Monseratte and Ranes. That way he is a mafia of Goan politics,” Shirodkar alleged. “Due to Parrikar's dirty politics, BJP has lost its credibility and the BJP-led government has destroyed Goa,” he added.
The GSM president was addressing a gathering after the inauguration of the election office of GSM's Siolim candidate, Paresh Raikar, at the hands of Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch convenor and former RSS Goa chief, Subhash Velingkar.
Speaking further, Shirodkar said die-hard party workers (karyakatas) had slogged to bring BJP to power in 2012. “The party has compelled these same karyakatas to once again work hard, this time to the BJP rule in Goa in 2017,” he added.
He said Congress was rejected in the last election because of its corrupt activities. “Sadly, in the BJP-led government, corruption has quadrupled and has affected every section of the administration. Every MLA is involved in corrupt activities,” he said.
He censured the BJP for amending the Mundkar Act to favour the landlords. “Parrikar has no concern either for farmers or the Bahujan Samaj. That is why BJP has no right to remain in power,” he said.
Slamming the BJP-led government, BBSM convenor and former RSS Goa chief Subhash Velingkar said after compromising with Goa's motherland BJP was now getting ready to strike deals with Goan electorate.
“This government has made Goans helpless by offering them doles by way of various schemes,” Velingkar said, adding that the money offered through the schemes were from our own pockets.
Criticising the implementation of the demonetisation policy, he said it has hit the common man the most. “These people first saved their money and then forced the demonetisation on the common man,” he said.
GSM's Siolim candidate, Paresh Raikar, said his party was not against English as was being propagated by the opponents. “We are not against English. GSM is also not against Diocesan Society. We only ask for primary education to be held in the regional language,” Raikar said.
He then listed various plans to bring about change and development in Siolim constituency.
