Following Associate Professor Anugraha Mohapatra’s suspension after preliminary inquiry, Goa University’s internal complaints committee will now conduct a detailed inquiry into the complaint of alleged incident of sexual harassment by a student.
“The committee will now conduct a detailed inquiry including recording the statement of the accused. If found guilty, his services could also be terminated. Everything depends on the report by the committee,” said a GU official.
A university student on January 27 had complained to the GU Vice-Chancellor about the unwelcome comments made by the professor.
“The student along with her colleagues submitted a written complaint to the VC. He took serious cognizance of the complaint and referred it to the internal complaints committee. The students even refused to attend his classes requesting to make alternative arrangements. Following a preliminary report submitted by the committee which recommended his suspension, the action was initiated,” said the official.
