A Gujarati residing at Palolem complained that his mobile phone was hacked through a link and a UPI transaction of Rs 95,000 was debited from his account two months ago.
According to Canacona police, Kishanbhai Mithapara complained that on August 2, a person gained access to his mobile phone by sending an unauthorised link and thereafter effected an unauthorised UPI transaction of Rs 95,000 from his bank account without his knowledge, consent, or authorisation.
It has been found that the amount of Rs 95,000 was allegedly transferred to the UPI ID of the accused person, Jainab Khatoon, causing a wrongful loss of Rs 95,000 to Mithaapara.
Police registered the complaint u/s 318 (4) of BNS and investigating it accordingly.
