Hand over your garbage or be ready for power cuts: MMC

VASCO
Not handing over their garbage to the person appointed by the Mormugao Municipal Council for the task will cost flat owners in buildings and societies in the Port Town power cuts and no water
supply.
MMC Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes has taken a strict decision to take the daily garbage collection in the city to another level with a warning to owners of houses and flats erring to hand over daily garbage to the council-appointed contractor.
Fernandes said several societies and buildings were not giving garbage to the
contractor and as a result a lot of garbage is scattered across Vasco.
"It is brought to my notice that many societies and buildings are not giving garbage to my staff collecting the garbage and serious view is taken by me. Please note that I will be compelled to disconnect water and power connections to these erring societies and buildings," warned Fernandes.
"If any one is having any grievance or reasons compelling not to give garbage, feel free to inform me in writing within 7 days, failing which I will take coercive action against them," said Fernandes.
