HC decision won’t impact poll prospects: Tanavade

MAPUSA
Asking the opposition to stop dreaming, BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade on Monday said the court order will have no impact on the BJP’s prospects in the civic election.

“With one decision, the BJP will not lose. The BJP government in the State as well as at the Centre is strong enough. We have a good organisation in place,” Tanavade said.

The BJP State President was speaking to the media after inaugurating the new party office of Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo in the village.

Continuing, Tanavde said he wouldn’t like to comment on the HC decision as the government has appealed against the order in the Supreme Court.

“The apex court will pronounce its decision tomorrow and therefore I don’t think it is right to comment,” he said.

“But whatever the result, BJP is ready to fight the election in any situation,” he added.

According to Tanavade, the way the Leader of Opposition and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Goa Forward Party President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai were speaking, it showed that they are a frustrated lot.

“The opposition should stop dreaming. BJP will be elected to power even in Margao and Fatorda,” he said.

He further informed that BJP backed candidates/supporters will win in all the 11 municipalities and the lone corporation of Panaji where elections will be held.
