The Bombay High Court at Goa has ordered the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) to pay its employees and pensioners salaries as per the scale recommended by the 7th pay commission, and implement its own resolution to that effect.
The High Court, while disposing of a petition filed by employees and pensioners, noted a resolution adopted by the Board of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation in the year 2023 which resolved to give their employees 7th pay commission salaries with effect from January 1, 2018.
“Today the HC has passed an order that the resolution should be implemented and that those who retired before 2018 should also get the benefit,” Adv Dattaprasad Lawande, who represented the petitioners, said.
The Retired employees and present employees of the IDC had filed a petition in the High Court seeking 7th pay commission scale salaries with effect from the year 2016.
The High Court granted the employees the liberty to approach the GIDC with their demand and if it was rejected, the liberty to legal recourse.
