The High Court has accepted the submission made by the Margao Municipal Council and the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) on the question of transporting the RDF from the Sonsodo legacy dump.
The High Court, sources said, has told the GWMC to cover the balance RDF dump with tarpaulin sheets during the monsoons if the same cannot be transported to the cement factories for disposal.
The GWMC is believed to have submitted that transportation of RDF generated during the remediation of the Sonsodo legacy dump is going on in full swing, with the contractor signing an agreement with the cement factories in Karnataka.
The Margao municipality is also believed to have submitted that the civic body has been using the inert generated during the remediation of the Sonsodo legacy dump for landfilling purposes.
