HC grants relief to Serula Comunidade

The Bombay High Court at Goa has ‘defrosted' all but one of the bank accounts of the comunidade after the State government said they would have no problem if this was done.

The Comunidade of Serula through its president Anacleto Martins approached the Bombay High Court at Goa challenging the freezing of all the accounts of the comunidade.
"Today the learned Public Prosecutor, upon instructions from the Investigating Officer, states that except account number 197101000000970 with the Indian Overseas Bank, Socorro Branch, Porvorim, Goa, rest of the accounts can be unfreezed," the High Court has recorded in its order.
"The Public Prosecutor points out that account No SB/01/050027 with the Corporation Bank, Socorro Branch, Porvorim, Goa is already unfreezed. The accounts of the petitioner, except account No 197101000000970 with the Indian Overseas Bank, Socorro Branch, Porvorim, Goa are directed to be unfreezed," the High Court ruled in its judgement.
