PANAJI

The High Court of Bombay at Goa has quashed criminal proceedings against a 22-year-old man accused of threatening to leak a minor girl’s photographs online unless she shared private pictures and videos, subject to payment of Rs 3 lakh in costs.

Maina Curtorim Police had registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Goa Children’s Act and POCSO Act. The girl and her mother said the dispute was settled voluntarily. The court directed the accused, the girl and her mother to jointly pay Rs 3 lakh to the Goa High Court Bar Association for lawyers’ training programmes and related expenses.
