The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday rejected the supplementary chargesheet filed by the Old Goa Police in the 2022 murder case of assistant professor Gauri Achari – a setback for the investigation team.
The supplementary chargesheet had included the Test Identification Parade report confirming the identity of the accused, freelance gym instructor Gaurav Bidre, as well as a technical analysis of mobile phones.
It also referred to the investigation indicating that Bidre - who once also conducted a fitness program for ATS Commandos of Goa Police - had allegedly maintained similar parallel relationships with other women.
Bidre, a resident of Old Goa and a native of Maharashtra, was chargesheeted for murder in September 2022. According to the original chargesheet, he concealed the fact that he was married and had a child while developing a relationship with Achari. After she learnt of his marital status and ended the relationship, Bidre allegedly waited near her residence, confronted her, and allegedly strangled her in a fit of rage before dumping her body in a forested area near the Kadamba bypass road in June 2022.
