One of the terminated Anganwadi staff, who is on strike, has been shifted to Goa Medical College hospital after her health worsened on Saturday.
The health of other six members has also deteriorated, but the striking Anganwadi workers have said they would not withdraw their strike until the State government unconditionally reinstates them.
These Anganwadi workers were terminated from duty and have been on strike since the last 23 days.
The condition of Vidya Naik deteriorated and paramedics who visited Azad maidan after checking her health advised her to shift to the GMC hospital.
"She was not feeling well since Friday but she refused to go to hospital. Now her health has worsened,” said Devyani Tamse, another Anganwadi worker on strike.
“The government had asked us to give a written affidavit that we will not protest again. However, the conditions in the affidavit are not acceptable to us,” said Tamse.
Meanwhile, social activist Tara Kerkar and Aruna Wagh went to Azad Maidan and pledged their support to the Anganwadi workers on strike.
“Notices were not issued to these workers before terminating their services, thereby depriving them a chance to explain their position. The Director of Women and Child is at fault” said Kerkar.
Wagh warned that if something were to happen to the Anganwadi workers on strike, the government would be held solely responsibility.
