Heavy rains continue to hit Canacona

CANACONA

Heavy rains continued to lash Canacona on Monday, disrupting normal life in the taluka.

Many low-lying areas remained flooded and waterlogging was a regular sight at many places in the taluka.

A source in the WRD, however, said water levels at all rivers were normal height and there was no significant rise in any of the major rivers of the taluka.

Canacona Fire Services personnel said no untoward incidents were reported due to heavy rains in any part of Canacona, except for a boulder which rolling down a hill and stopped by the roadside at Bhatpal.

Seasonal rainfall touched the 3,070 mm mark with with 139 mm of rainfall till 8 pm on Monday, while the Chapoli Dam was overflowing with its reservoir having a storage of 1123.29 (38.86RL) on Monday afternoon.
