Vasco BJP MLA Carlos Alemida on Monday reviewed works of various departments ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the port town.
Speaking to reporters, Alemida said the meeting was convened to ensure there are no issues during festivals.
"Regarding the electricity department, we have two sections in Vasco and Baina area and underground cabling works in Baina will be completed within 15 days.”
“There is no major water supply issue and though we suffered previously because there was no storage facility, we now have storage tanks in Gomantak Base, New Vaddem, Mangor, etc.”
“Encroachments will be cleared from the entire market area and there will be penalties for offenders. Establishments may even be sealed if violators take authorities for granted," said Almeida.
Vasco Health Officer Dr Rashmi Khandeparkar said dengue cases have been reported all over Goa and this wave would soon go down after monsoons.
She appealed to people to take all preventive measures to prevent the spread of dengue.
Meanwhile, PWD Assistant Engineer Naresh Painguinkar on Monday said no proposal from Vasco, especially one regarding pipeline replacement, had been pending in the department for the last seven years, as had been claimed by some political leaders.
"I have checked all reports and there were proposals that have gone to PWD since 2013 and all of them have been completed. Some proposals after 2018 are already being taken up and while some works have already begun, some are awaiting administrative approvals and these pending proposal are minor in nature.”
“There is no proposal pending for the last seven years and almost all proposals have been passed and executed as well," said Painguinkar.
