Landslides, uprooted trees disrupt traffic for over 4 hrs at Chorla Ghat rrrthe goan I networkrVALPOIr rThe traffic came to a grinding halt on either sides of Belagavi and Keri-Sattari. rAccording to reports, due to heavy rains for the last 24 hours in the Ghat section, landslides were reported in atleast three places. The traffic was blocked from 4 to 7.30 pm. rThe PWD (roads) workers rushed to the site and cleared the debris and cleared the road for the traffic at about 7.30 pm. rSources said many trees were uprooted on the road. Valpoi fire fighters cleared the road for traffic. rWhen contacted, assistant engineer of PWD (roads) Valpoi Deepa Jambhale said there is a possibility of landslides in many places if heavy rains continue. “We have already submitted a proposal for cutting dangerous trees along the roadside, but there is no satisfactory help from the department concerned,” she said. r“There is also a strong demand from this office to construct a protection wall along the road to prevent road blockades,” she added.

The traffic along the Goa-Belagavi road at Chorla Ghat was disrupted for over four hours, after heavy rains caused landslides and uprooted trees at Chorla Ghat on Tuesday evening.
