VALPOI

Traffic was disrupted on the main Valpoi-Honda road and several trees were uprooted, as heavy rains lashed Sattari taluka on Thursday evening.

The power supply was also disrupted in many parts of the taluka and efforts were underway to restore electricity in the affected areas.

The Valpoi Fire Services said a tree fell on a house in Guleli, while a tree also came crashing down on the property of Our Lady of High School at Valpoi.

A tree uprooted at Redighat and caused a traffic jam along the Valpoi-Honda road for about an hour.

A four-wheeler is reported to have skidded neat the Forest Training School, but no casualties were reported.

Several cashew and mango plantations have been damaged due to strong winds, causing extensive losses to the growers in Sattari taluka.
