Monsoon is fast approaching and a structural stability report submitted by the Goa Engineering College (GEC), Farmagudi pertaining to the restoration of the imposing Administrator of Comunidade building is gathering dust in the record books of the Comunidade Administrator.
An important landmark at the Margao Municipal square in the heart of the Commercial capital, the Comunidade building has been craving for attention over the years. Following rampant water seepage into the decades-old building, the office of the Administrator of Comunidades stands shifted to the Old Collectorate building.
Sadly, one has not come across any pro-active steps by the office of the Administrator of Comunidades or the revenue authorities to save the imposing building from crumbling.
While the components of Comunidades from South Goa had expressed their willingness to foot the renovation and repair bill, they, however, have no idea why the Comunidade officials are dragging their feet in preparing the estimates to take up the repair work.
Office bearers of the Margao Comunidade, Savio Correia and Celestin Noronha lamented that they have heard nothing from the office of the Administrator of Comunidades on the serious question of restoring the Comunidade building to its past glory.
