Addressing a news conference, the national spokesperson of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS), Ramesh Shinde said they are trying their level best to convince the government to formulate a law to ban cattle slaughtering. “We will send this resolution to the Union government,” he added.
He alleged that Bangladesh earns 800 million dollars by smuggling the cattle. “This year, 90,000 cattle were rescued while smuggling,” he said.
“We have sentiments with the cow and hence we feel that it should be declared as national animal,” he added.
Shinde said no political party or a political leader should play politics for vote bank over this issue.
He also said the Central government should constitute a national history committee to remove portions of unwanted history from all textbooks being taught in schools.
The Hindu Conference also resolved that Hindus should be made members in the Fact Finding Committees for religious riots. “There should be identical compensation for all the injured and relatives of the deceased. The compensation amount should not be more for the sole reason that the victim is from the minority. It should be equal to all,” said Shinde.
Shinde also alleged that infiltration from Bangladesh side takes place and it should be curtailed. “We have demanded measures to stop these illegal practices. An Act should be passed to take action against those who give employment
and shelter to the illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators,” said Shinde.
According to Shinde, the infiltrators take rented rooms and smuggle cattle and other activities. “This should stop,” he added. He said that all the illegal activities should be stopped and the government should make efforts to stop the smuggling.
