OLD GOA
The Hindus and the Christians showed example of inter-religious unity as the feast of Our Lady of Bom Success was celebrated at Dongrim-Mandur, on Sunday.
After the feast mass got over, the statue of Our Lady of Bom Success was taken in a procession around the village in which the Hindus paid their obeisance to Our Lady by offering flowers, candles, incense sticks, etc.
St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar, who also participated in the procession, lauded the unity of both the communities and stated that it is a great example of the brotherhood that exists in Goa.
“A similar example is seen when the festival of Intruz is celebrated in Dongorim wherein the Christians participate along with the Hindus,” MLA Borkar informed.
Mandur Sarpanch Prashant Naik informed that the unity among both the communities is prevalent for ages and thanked God for maintaining the same.
Meanwhile, as the procession was taken around the village hymns were played, the Rosary was recited and prayers were held.
