Manipal Hospital (MH), Goa, partnered with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Goa State Branch to observe World Cancer Day in an event aimed at raising awareness about the disease and showing support to cancer survivors.

The event, which took place on February 3, highlighted the commitment of Manipal Hospital to bridge the Care Gap in Goa. Dr Sandesh Chodankar, the President of IMA Goa State Branch for 2024, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Symbolizing solidarity with cancer patients, Manipal Hospital Goa distributed gifts to individuals undergoing cancer treatment in the daycare unit.

Citing data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the hospital addressed the anticipated rise in cancer cases from 14.61 lakh in 2022 to 15.7 lakh in 2025. In response to this concerning trend, Manipal Hospital aimed to empower the fight against cancer and reduce the impact of the disease in the State.

The event featured cancer survivors who, along with Dr Sandesh Chodankar, shared their journeys as a source of inspiration and hope for those currently battling cancer. Dr Chodankar emphasized the significance of unity in the fight against cancer, encouraging prevention, detection, and treatment.
