MARGAO
Margao police on Sunday night rushed to Lohia Maidan after pro-Sonam Wangchuk and anti-BJP slogans were found painted on the walls and stage of the historic venue in Margao.
Police personnel were seen using kerosene to remove the slogans, including one alleging that the BJP was “anti-Constitution”. Another slogan painted on the stage read, “Sonam matters, Modi resign”, while “Save Wangchuk” was also prominently displayed.
The slogans reportedly came to light late on Sunday evening, prompting an immediate police response to erase the writings from the premises.
Sources said the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
As part of the probe, officers have been instructed to collect and examine CCTV footage from nearby establishments to identify those responsible for painting the slogans on the walls and stage.
No arrests had been made at the time of filing this report.
