The TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai has hit out at Margao civic body over corruption, telling the workers that even his close supporter was not spared by unscrupulous people in the municipal technical section.

MARGAO: "If a citizen known to be a supporter of a minster is asked to cough up money to pass a low income housing project, the situation is indeed bad in the civic body," Vijai said while addressing the party workers. He pointed out that he hasn't received any complaints of corruption against the municipal elected representatives yet, but hastened to add that some officials are out to fleece the citizens, while vowing to end corruption in the civic body. Sources said the TCP Minister Minster has favoured transfer of some of the officials, who have been on the scanner of the citizens for a long time. The issue of transfer of the unscrupulous officials will be taken up with the Urban Development Minister after his return to the state.
