MARGAO
In a development that took many by surprise, the Goa Forward Party has virtually conveyed a message loud and clear to the political parties, including the coalition partners, that the regional outfit will not sit idle and watch while others brace up for the Lok Sabha polls scheduled in 2019.
Days after the BJP made it clear that the party will galvanize the party rank and file in all the constituencies, including constituencies represented by the coalition partners, Goa Forward party supremo Vijai Sardesai chaired a meeting of party workers at his residence, conveying a clear message that people will not accept the parties in the 2019 Lok Sabha unless there's delivery to the people.
"We will be judged by the people of Fatorda and elsewhere based on our delivery. We have listed a host of projects for implementation by the government. Unless we deliver on the projects, I do not think the people will accept us in 2019," Vijai told the workers.
While Goa Forward party leaders pointed out that the meeting was called by the party Supremo ahead of the inauguration of the Fatorda police station scheduled on Saturday, many say that the TCP Minister used the platform to convey a message that the party will not sit quite while others go ahead and strengthen themselves at the booth level.
Sources in the know said the party president also told the workers to take the message of development taken up by the Goa Forward in Fatorda since the party joined the coalition government. He outlined the various development projects taken up by him with the government, including the KTC bus stand, reconstruction of the bus stand, parking lot at the SGPDA and adjoining land acquired by the Margao Municipal Council, replacement of the underground sewerage line et al. "
Unless the party workers take the development works initiated by the party after it joined the ruling coalition, the people would not know the development ushered in by the party," he told the workers.
